David,
as a tuned-in baby, regularly sat in his high chair next to his favorite window
overlooking a pear tree and vegetable garden, spitting out Gerber's yelling
"give me the real thing." Those ripe juicy pears and succulent fresh
veggies from the garden made an early impression soon squelched by S.A.D. (standard
American diet) programing.
An early interest in science and health care fueled by family health challenges
led to a desire to go into medicine. Fortunately the medical career was derailed
in the third year by new academic interests leading to a degree in social sciences.
This, of course, led to his photography, construction and real estate pursuits.
After a lifetime interest studying health issues and facing his own health challenges paralleling his family's, his original programming luckily tuned in again after watching an apocalyptical cable TV show on Natural Hygiene (thank you Ed Lieb). He spit out the drugs and supplements and yelled again "give me the real thing". After a few short years of study with some fantastic teachers and experimenting on himself and anyone who'd listen, he realized a passion to share this new/old awareness and help interested others get tuned-in again too. Hence his support for the movement and the creation of Hygeia Center, a place in NYC where live/raw food, natural hygiene and environmental movement gurus spoke and where meetings, classes and potlucks were held.
