Comments
from Rhio:
I
cannot recommend this book enough. It is a monumental work done at a
time when scientific research really meant something (meaning it wasn't
backed by vested interests). It is fully documented with photographs
that plainly tell the real story of physical degeneration. While I do
not agree with certain conclusions reached by Dr. Price, such as that
you need to have some animal products in the diet to be healthy, nevertheless,
in my opinion, the work stands alone as a masterpiece.
The
Deadly Diet
Circling
the world in the 1920s and '30s, Dr. Price and his wife found the same
sinister pattern among "primitive" populations, whether isolated
Irish fishermen, tribal Africans, Pacific Islanders, Eskimos, North
and South American Indians or Australian Aborigines. Those groups that
followed their traditional nature-based diets enjoyed good health and
vigor, and those that turned to the "civilized" diet of processed,
sugar-laden foods soon developed a variety of ills, including misshapen
bones and teethand the situation worsened with each generation.
Dr.
Price's fascinating accounts of his discoveries, and the extensive photo
documentation he provides, drive home the nutritional truths that are
only now gaining general understanding, and Nutrition and Physical
Degeneration remains an unequaled source of basic informationa
"must for anyone seriously interested in the effects of food on
health."

NOTE:
Since this invaluable book was published more than 60 years
ago, mores and social attitudes have changed to such an extent that
some readers may be offended by references to "savages" and
other out-of-date nomenclatures, as well as by some of the research
studies that are no longer timely. However, in the interest of authenticity
and completeness, the publisher feels an obligation to reprint the book
exactly as Dr. Price wrote it in 1939.
